MG TD TF 1500 - With MG on an exotic island
I have just returned from my 2400 kilometer long trip to "my" island north of the Polar Circle. The car ran very well all the way! I wanted to show you all what this little island far out in the ocean looks like, so I once more mounted the video camera on the TD. Even if the island is only three kilometers long, the video had to be split in three parts. This is part one. I will put the others out when (and if) I manage to edit them without the help of my son. (By the way, he made the music this time). See the film here: http://youtu.be/WcOGRfTzmns |

Raymond, Thank you for the tour!! It was GREAT !!!! It seems like some of the roads that you were on might be impassible during a winter storm at high tide,,,, . . I'm sure it will be one of the future video's, but what is Stavoya?????? SPW |
STEVE WINCZE |
Stavøya is the peaked island in the distance. It is very rare that you cannot travel on the roads, but it happens sometimes, as you say, in extra high tides. See also my book from this island: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/1244032 |

Raymond, beautiful movie. Thanks for posting it! |

Fascinating, Raymond. No traffic signs, no traffic lights. I trust that those roads aren't one-way, just very narrow. Good thing you didn't meet that truck on the narrow road. Thank you. Bud |

Hoped you checked your shocks out after that dyke. What a great trip! Reminds me sort of like the area around our Nags Head on the east coast. Good seafood? Dried cod, sprats? Keep 'em coming, Ed |

Many of the inhabitants of Røst have dark skin and hair and mediterranian facial features. There is a story behind that, about an Italian merchant, Pietro Querini, that was way off course in his merchant vessel in 1432, and eventually had to abandon ship in a winter storm to be stranded on a small isle close to Røst. He and his men were saved by the people living in the small community of fishermen and their families on Røst, who introduced them to stockfish, and shared everything with them, even their women, being devout catholics but still in many ways natures children. Querinis journey, and his way back to Venice is well documented as both he and two if his men wrote their stories, which have been preserved to this day, and there are still very special bonds between Italy and this small island up north which Raymond has introduced you to through his TD drive on the island. I have been there myself a couple of times and it is a magic place, with stockfish, puffins, eagles and man living together. You can read more about Pietro Querinis journey here: http://www.ub.uit.no/northernlights/eng/querini.htm regards, Jan |

Raymond, Your latest video has inspired me once again. Other projects have gotten in the way and progress on my '53 has, for the last couple of months, been minimal at best. I should finish my one remaining must do chore this weekend after which I vow to return to work on the TD with vigor! Please keep posting your videos. They really do build morale for those of us still mired in the restoration process. It is wonderful to get to tour parts of the world that I am unlikely to ever get to see in person. Thanks again, Kirk |
