MG TD TF 1500 - Worn wheels - rubbish?
I have just replaced the wire wheels and hubs on the TF. The old splines were pretty worn. Is there any point in keeping them? I am inclined just toss them in the rubbish but wonder if I have overlooked some usefulness. Regards, Richard. |

Hang them on a wall... you might bend a rim and be able to lace one on the new hub? |

Richard, I have 13 old worn out wire wheels that I have had the same thought. There ought to be some use for these things. Mine are from a mgtf, MGA and Austin Healey. I wish I knew someone who would like to have them. Have a good day! John |

I assume you both have one mounted on your wall to hold your garden hose? |

Richard, Why not set one of the hubs up so that you will be able to respoke your wheels when it becomes necessary, You'll find some info on respoking elsewhere on the forum or one of the external sites, it would certainly be a skill worth having. |

Hi Richard, Really good to see you going the right way with the replacement of the 'flogged' hubs and wire wheels. A TF friend and I about 10 years ago asked a company in UK to do a special run of two(2)sets of the TF1250 'shallow dish'hub wheels.Plenty of the 'deep dish'hub wheels were available but not the 1250 type. The current TF has 5 of the specially ordered set. It's nice to not hear that 'cloncking'sound when stopping and starting off.The Dunlop factory that produces new wires is located in India I believe! I feel that the price of the hubs in particular these days is very reasonable when one considers the amount of critical machining involved in their manufacture. The 'old' wheels make good boat anchors! Cheers Rob. Grantham |

Thanks everyone, I suspected they were pretty useless. Regards, Richard. |
