Hi It seems there is a Xpag-alternator (with tach-drive!)on the market (Ebayitem number: 4515827710) Any experiences? Erik |

Did you notice the current price? (!!!). It requires a shift to Neg ground but everything that he says in the description is true. I have another source buried in my e-mails that I intend to dig out in a day or so. This other source has lower amp ones that are cheaper. John |

I ran into a chap at Stoneleigh last year that puts alternators into T-Series generator shells including the rev-counter take-off. He had several on his stand and they looked to be quite professional and undistinguisable from the original generator. He didn't have a web-site,(Sorry, no name)so contact :- Classic & Vintage Dynamos Unit 7, Shirebrook Business Centre Vernon Court Vernon Street Shirebrooke Nottinghamshire NG20 8SP UK tel:- 011 44 01623 747666 Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Someone mentioned in the Octagon mag a about a year ago that an Austin Metro alternator can be made to fit a T series inc the rev counter take off. Jan T |

Race Mettle Ltd. Does a nice conversion of a 20 watt Lucas dynamo into a 40 watt alternator. The conversion is nearly impossible to spot though not cheap, about 350 pounds. Each unit is hand made with only the original end plates reused. I understand the main body is turned from a solid aluminum billet! I The finished unit weighs half what the old iron job does. Contact them at racemettleltd.co.uk Ciao, Ben T |

I did a google on Austin Metro alternator and came up a blank though 1970 Austin America came up with two at ~ $120 including core charge. John |

John, Sure hope you share that info. after you dig it up. I have converted my MGA, and MGB to a bosch alt. and have considered doing that to my TD also, the tach is the only thing holding me up. Not sure I want to electrify my existing tach. Roy |

Somewhere in the archives is a similar thread. The name that pops out is Gerald Felper - felperg@earthlink.net . He charges $250 for a Ford 85 amp alternator that requires an external regulator and $350 for an AC/Delco one wire 65 amp one. |

This is Jerry Felper's son selling these on Ebay. |

I just got this reply from Race Mettle. Happy new year, thanks for the interest in our products. We do supply a dynamo look alike with a rear take off for a tacho. This is a new manufacture if alloy to suit the alternator with the old ends from the original unit. We currently have patterns to replace the C40 and C40L type dynamos you can see on our website. I think the C40 was on the MG TD but I may be wrong. At this point in time, we are having difficulty getting the old ends so we would need an old unit with good condition end plates to manufacture a unit. The price however is £453.00 including VAT plus delivery. (£9.99 on UK Mainland) Regards Steve Turner For Racemettle Ltd High torque light weight starter motors and alternators.
