Triumph TR3 - 1960 TR3A Wiring Diagram
Hi Guys, I need some help. I have a wiring diagram from Glenn's Triunph Repair and Tune-Up Guide but it is incomplete. It does not have an Amp Gauge, and also shows wiring to the Temperature Gauge that only has a sending unit and no electircal connections. Does anybody know of a good source for a wiring diagram? I have tried all the local bookstores and every manual that seems to have it is no longer in print. I have tried some of the books from Moss Motors, and they seem to only deal with the engine and body restoration. |

TerriAnn Wakeman has the following Lucas wiring colours listed in her web site for her 1961 TR3A. http://www.cruzers.com/~twakeman/TR/Lucaswirecodes.htm There are no wires to the temperature gauge on the dashboard in a TR2, TR3, TR3A or a TR3B. There is a liquid-filled bulb which is bolted into the aluminium housing for the thermostat and a tiny tube with some spiral wire around it for protection that goes along side the block below the sparkplugs, then there are 2 to 4 loops before it goes through a grommet hole in the firewall and up to the gauge. Kenneth Ball's Autopress Ltd, Work shop manual shows the ammeter wiring as Brown and Brown with White, page 153. As Don Elliot says the temp gauge is non electrical. |

Thanks for your help guys. I am going to try to find the workshop manual. |

John, I rebuilt my '61 using the Haynes manual. Although out of print, you may be able to find a copy by searching the web. It had a complete wiring diagram that I followed. It must have been correct since I got the car with the dash removed and had to put it together based on the diagram...and the car works. If you want, I can send you a photocopy of the page. Mike P |
