Triumph TR3 - Changing the front signal lamp bulbs

It should ve a simple task to replace the front signal lamp bulb, but it is not described in any of the three repair books I have. With the grill off I can see three screws coming out of nowhere (adjacent to the rubber boot), and a rubber cover over the lamp parts and with the wires coming out the bask. Do you just force this rubber cover off ( I dislike breaking things that I shouldn't)?
Dennis Nelson

Dennis - You don't have to remove the grille. Look closely at the assembly from the front (ie outside the grille). You will see a round chrome ring all around the clear lens for the directional light assembly. Take a small screwdriver or two and carefully pry the chrome ring out of the rubber base. Take care not to scratch the chrome ring or cut the rubber. When the ring is out, lay it aside carefully.

Then pull on the clear glass lens. It will come out the rubber base. It will be in the innermost part which is a different groove than where the chrome ring was.

Now you can twist the bulb out of the socket. Make sure the inner area of the socket is clean and dry with no rust or corrosion. Then insert and twist a new bulb into the seated position. Check that it works by putting on the parking light switch and then the innition key and the blinker lever.

Now you are ready to re-assemble it all. With a small screwdriver, feed the clear lens into the rubber base. Then insert the chrome ring into its groove.

That's all.

Now you have the rest of the story !

Happy TR-ing
