Triumph TR6 - Exhaust 'Burble'
I recently replaced the four throttle shaft seals on my Strombergs to correct a vacuum leak along the shafts and to get a smooth idle. However, the exhaust note from my Ansa's now features a "burbling" sound when decelerating in gear. This is not a "popping" sound normally attributed to a lean mixture, but a muffled burble. Is this normal for the Ansa's or indicative of a too lean mixture? I've adjusted the needles to full rich and up to 3 turns CCW lean and still get the burble. Any thoughts? Thanks. Rick O. 72 TR6 |

Rick, My Ansa's make the same sound; always have. My friends say it "percolates." I'll be interested to see if anyone thinks this indicates a problem. Keith |

I have a 1969 with an Ansa exhaust. It too makes the burble sound on deceleration. It sounds great I think... |

Thanks Keith and Chris. I'm still puzzled why the burbling wasn't occurring before I worked on the carbs. But anyway, I won't think about that anymore. Rick O. |
