Triumph TR6 - Grease nipple misery
One of my spring activities is a regular lub job of all grease points in the car. I have greased all U-joint but one. The U-joint of the right-hand rear drive shaft, located in the trailing arm, is impossible to reach. I managed to get a 1 inch extended nipple attached but there is no way to get my grease gun on. Is there a trick to grease this U-joint I am not aware off ? I would appreciate some ideas how to overcome this problem. |

This isn't what you want to hear, but the only way I could manage it was by taking out the driveshaft!! [I was doing work on the back suspension anyway] Ron |

Erik Yes impossible and only way to get at is Rons' way. When I replaced my UJs, they where all without grease nipples...posted a thread on that and seems to be the norm today. Well at least non greaseable UJs got rid of a problem. Rick C |

When there is a need to get the shaft out I will replace them for the new sealed type U-joints and leave them for the time being. Erik |

Don't know if it actually helps, but when I installed and subsequently greased the UJs I used black molly grease [also on the splines] the logic being that the molly would be a lubricant even if the grease disappeared. Ron |
