Triumph TR6 - Looking for a TR6 in Saskatchewan

Well, the days are getting longer and spring is 'only' 3 or 4 months away, so I'm starting to look again for a TR6. I had a '70 between '93 and '99 so I prefer the older cars but am open to anything. I've been trolling across the 'net in all the usual places but am wondering if anyone on this list knows of a private sale that's available. I'm in Saskatchewan (Canada).

I'd like something that's in running order and pretty much complete that's worth doing a rolling restoration on. I'm probably not up to taking on a basket case, though.

Any suggestions?

TIA,
Rod.

Rod:

You should check out Len Drake at www.drakesbritishmotors.com He has a few TR6's there that should fit your budget, whatever it is. We have shipped 3 cars from Drake's in Kelowna, BC to Newfoundland in the last couple of years and in all cases we got what was advertised and what we expected.Shipping coast-to-coast is expensive ($2200 to Nfld) but if ya want the dream, ya gotta pay. Shipping via Searail (the shipping company - they will ship door-to-door and insure against damage)from Vancouver to Sask should be a lot cheaper. In all cases we purchased on the basis of pictures and phone conversations without ever getting a chance to kick the tires. I would and likely will purchase another car from him in the future and have no hesitation in recommending him. Good luck in your search for the best LBC there is - TR6!

Bob

Just to endorse Bob E's suggestion, Drakes are absolutely great people to deal with, its about the cars not the money for them and it shows in the attitudes

Looks like Rod in an other thread is already on the scent of a new 6.

Thanks all for the advice. Yes, I am thinking about a '70 from Drake's -- waiting on a compression test and a few more photos before I make up my mind. I'd half hoped that I'd be able to drive it home, but will likely have to ship, so thanks for the info.

Good luck, you should feel pretty confident in purchasing a car from Drakes, when you speak to Len next, say hi from Bob.

Make that a hi from both Bob's and ask him to ship my new stainless exhaust system and Pertronix so I have something to play with.

Don't know Drake? Bet da Goose knows. That's where I got my Washington state TR6, Don. The guy is a straight shooter and has some nice Triumphs on his site. He also has some of those other LBC's there too.
