Triumph TR6 - Oil Pressure

Can anyone advise what they feel should be typical oil pressure? Motor has not been rebuilt since about 30k miles. My pressure has been fine, however, after a recent oil change, the readings are now diferrent. At cold start it reads around 85-90 and idles at 80. After a lengthy warm up, the reading settles to what it used to be at warm temp; idles at 25ish and sits at fast speed at 80. Shawn.

What oil?
Are you using a different filter?
DON KELLY

Hi Don,
I have been using consistantly Castrol 20/50 high mileage oil and a Fram filter. This happened once before several years ago and I replaced the oil pressure relief valve and that fixed it. I could replace the spring again but seems bizzare it would need replacing again. Do you think the oil itself could be the cause?

Only if you changed types. Pull the relief spring and make sure it is clean and fine.

Did you double check the level?

When cold I get 50 at idle and 80 with higher RPM

When warm 30 at idle and 50 at 3000 rpm.
I use 20W50.

Mike's is about standard

Don, Mike,
I checked oil and the level is dead on, also pulled pressure relief spring. Spring was clean with no gunk, etc. Maybe I will change oil again and see if there is an impact on the pressure level with another batch. Any other suggestions are welcome.
