Triumph TR6 - Overdrive problems
Help,my car feels like it is stuck in overdrive, rpm's low, poor pickup. This is a 74 with the J type.I disconnected the c-2 terminal at the relay,no difference.how can I be sure if this is the problem? What else can I do to switch the OD off. |

David-A quick test to determine if the OD is engaged is to put the trans. in neutral and try to push the car backwards. If it doesn't move, the OD is engaged and will self destruct if driven in reverse. If you are lucky, the problem might be as simple as the OD clutch being stuck to the brake ring and the solution is to whack the brake ring with a mallet. Berry Price |

Thanks for the response Berry, the car will roll backwards in neutral, must be something else.I would know if I destroyed the overdrive would't I,because I know when I first got the car I backed up with the OD engaged. |

David-You might find the Buckeye tech article on the J type helpfull as it has a section on trouble shooting. http://web.archive.org/web/20020607222129/http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/index.htm Berry Price |
