Triumph TR6 - Re-Installing a moulded console cover
I need some help...I had a tranny rebuild and new clutch installed on my 75 TR6, when it came back from the shop the moulded console cover was not re-installed.I put in new carpet and have tried to re-install it but I can't seem to get enough clearance to get it back in place .Is there a trick to re-installing this ???...Any help will be most appreciated |

Alan I have recently performed the same task..including putting the engine and tranny back in. The center console should not be a problem. Make sure there is no carpet or underlay under the "feet" of the console. The feet should be flat on the floor pan. Is the transmission tunnel flat on the floor? It should be. Is the tunnel tight against the front fire wall? Again should be. There should be a thin water sealing gasket on the floor where the tranny cover attaches. Is the gear shift boot inner rubber gasket "seated" in the opening of the tranny cover and facing the correct direction? This could hold the tranny cover up higher making the console a little snug. Alan / Rick, When I installed my new carpet I made sure there was no padding under the carpet at the console feet..that allowed a nice finished look. I had no big problem bolting it down. Charlie |

Correction....I meant under the curved top of the console not the feet...there is no carpet under the feet. Sorry Charlie |

Charlie My entire "hump" is padded and carpet. Still no problem with the install. I will say I do not have underpad where the gearshift part of the console is. Rick C |

Hi Rick, It's been 3 yrs since I did mine, and I don't recall any big problem installing the console. |

Thanks so much for your suggestions....I removed the insulation under the feet and at the area around the shifter...It fits nice and covers the carpet seams...Again thanks....... |
