Triumph TR6 - Still Alive??
Hi Folks: Still out here and still have the 6. Tranny on the bench again due to sticky clutch. Looks like the release bearing was binding on the sleeve/flange on the tranny so I had the sleeve polished and chamfered at the machine shop and have a new Koyo release bearing and release bearing sleeve assembly ready to go back in. Was unable to get it back in due to a knee and hamstring injury suffered whilst bowling. What an athlete huh! Hope all are happy and healthy. Cheers, Bob |

Bob, Been a coupla years, but here I am. Hope the knee heals soon so the car can be healed! Mine is in the body shop getting a re-paint, which was prompted by a Chevy Suburban trying to push me through an intersection. Friend that was riding along and I are okay, the car will be ready for driving season, so I suppose all is well. My message to others: Get out and drive that TR6... |

Hello, It is sad that this the last active Forum on this site. Derek |

Hello, My TR6 is still in restoration until next year if evrything is going smoothly. Bob that rear axle you sold me years ago for a friend Spit. is still working well. Derek for some unexplained reasons BBS forums are deserted. In the past it was a real source of infos for me. Cheers, Jean |

Jean, Unless they have purged the archives, that information is still here, you just have to search for it. I don't know exactly what happened here but it seems like once it was rolled up into the "MG Experience," the Triumph part just fell off the cliff. I don't really have anything against MGs, I've had a bunch of them and enjoyed them. By the same token, it's sad what has happened to this section of the BBS given how lively it used to be. |

Hi Guys (and Gals if there are any left) :)
Got the tranny back in - clutch is like silk. Wheeee! Found a busted right rear diff pin. It had erupted right thru the mounting arm. Friend Ernie cut out an access panel in the rear deck behind the passenger seat and reworked the pin. Re-welded it and then added a galvanized reinforcing plate that he plug welded all round. I liked it so much I had him cut another access panel behind the diver's seat and add a safety patch in there too. Same method. Not the "proper" method but it won't break again in my lifetime. Re-welded the panels back in and coated with seam sealer - all concealed under the carpet. Very cool repair. Also got some serious rattles and clunks out of the way. Ask me how (just trying to keep this forum alive).Anyway, the 6 lives and it is really fast with the GP2 cam and Falcon exhaust. Way, way quicker than a stock 6. Still have the new Robbins top in the box but been so busy driving it that I just haven't gotten around to installing the top. Great summer here; best in many years. Cheers, Bob |

Hi Folks:
Summer ended here about 3:00 pm on Sept 12th.:) The hot wave is over, probably due to that nasty gal Florence down south. Anyway, had the TR6 out yesterday for a top down drive in very cool 10*C weather. Same today. Gonna work on daughter's Saturn and install a new power window motor. Still no top on the 6 but have the frame back in and a bunch of the various fittings attached. Hi Rod: Glad to hear you and friend are okay after the fight with the Suburban. They are bullies! Hi Jean: Good to know that when you sell something it works well and continues to do so years later. That rear end probably had only 45,000 miles on it before the body disintegrated. Cheers All, Bob |

Hi Guys
My friend Steve and I took a 7 hr drive from Kitchener ( 60 miles west of Toronto) down to the Roadster Factory in Armagh Pennsylvania (beautiful country) to pick up parts for Steve's 76 TR. We met the nicest people there..they gave us a tour of the warehouse and we met "WOODCHUCK" the man who creates new dashboards and gear knobs...amazing workmanship and attention to detail !... The center logo enblems are re-created in England and installed in the new knobs ! We met the lovely lady in shipping ( sorry I forget her name )and she told us that she was currently processing 11 TR orders to Canada !!...They love Canadians !! but they ship all over the world daily. We stayed overnight and met some really nice people.. We did not take his or my TR6...I know my back could not take that long a drive !!! Cheers Charlie 1975 TR6 |

Hi Folks Well it's November 3 and I have taken my car off the road this week-end....Ran great all summer but I found my master cylinder leaking where it meets the servo housing so it must be that seal in the bore. Time to remove it and decide if I rebuild it or drop a few bucks and buy new one. Will check the brakes and all fluid levels over the winter. All the best ! Charlie |

Hi Folks: Had the 6 out a couple days ago. Nice but chilly drive at about 8*C but it was Fun. Alas, no pics taken. Not putting her to bed yet as I hope to get to the Santy Claws Parade with the top down. Got to becuz still no new top installed :) Keep this forum alive. I never would have done my resto without it. Cheers All, Bob |

HELLO BOB, Wish you have recover from your knee probem. I read your post and want to know whatis a Koyo release bearing. Is it a Jap. swap for original one. CHEERS, J.G.C. |
J. G. Catford |
Hi J.G.: Happy New Year. Yes, Koyo is probably a Japanese swap but is very popular with Roadster Factory customers. So far it's perfect. Smooth as silk!! Cheers, Bob |
