Triumph TR6 - Transmission noise
My TR-6 makes what sound like a grinding noise when setting out of gear with the clutch out, when the clutch is pushed in the noise stops, any ideas of the cause? I have just replaced the clutch, but it was making the noise prior. Thank you |

did you replace the fork pin? |

When out of gear and clutch engaged, you turn the first motion shaft in the transmission, when the clutch is disengaged, nothing in the transmission turns. Without any more information or hearing it myself, I'd be inclined to say that it's the first motion shaft bearing in the transmission. As long as it's just a bearing noise type sound, it's not that big a deal, you could almost call it standard equipment on these cars. On the other hand, if it is a pretty serious grinding sound, it's time to go through the transmission. |
