Triumph TR6 - Upcoming Tranny Work
Well, time to start thinking about dealing with last Autumn’s nightmare, clutch fork and a necessity to open the gearbox. Anyway, I’m pretty sure it’s going to Oshawa to get fixed. I’ve yet to inquire what sort of $’s it’s going to be, but I imagine somewhere between 2 – 3 thou. (don’t really know). What I do know is that beyond removing the seats and the radio area in preparation for the tranny to come out, I’m just not set-up to do the work myself. Always told myself that the 1’st time the tranny got pulled, I’d consider going with an aluminum crank ($500), so I have that to think about as well. Any feedback? |

PJ, I don't know what your "nightmare" was, but it is not difficult to replace fork, pins, crossshft etc. I did a complete clutch replacement with new pins crossshaft and throwout bearing and it is smooth as silk now. Phil in Oshawa rebuilt my tranny last spring. He does good work. email me and I'll tell you more. Better still come to our get together March 11 and you can see the inside of the bell housing first hand. Cheers Pete |
